Raimondo Di Sangro

Last illustration for the series "het fantastische" which was published by the Volkskrant. In total I made 12 illustrations for the column, which was written by Tommy Wieringa.

This illustration was for an article about Raimondo Di Sangro and his interests in the studies of alchemy, mechanics and the sciences in general. The last years of his life were dedicated to decorating the Chapel of Sansevero with marble works from the greatest artists of the time, including Antonio Corradini, Francesco Queirolo and Giuseppe Sanmartino, and preparing anatomical models. These models are still on display in the Chapel, and have given rise to legends as to how they were constructed.

The original drawing was made with graphite on A3 sized Bristol board. The drawing was then scanned and colored on the computer.
