Photo's of the Motel Mozaïque Festival

Today I received some photo's of the Motel Mozaïque festival from Thijs (a.k.a. Tegendraads). Two weeks ago I got commissioned to make an illustration for the festival, which Thijs would then translate into an embroided design which people could get for free at the festival. I wasn't able to make it to the festival myself, but the photo's he send me look awesome! And check out the design Thijs made of my illustration. I know it wasn't easy for him, my drawing style isn't exactly highly embroidable.
Bart Aalbers also made an illustration and it also looks kick ass. You can see his work for the festival on his website. Good job Thijs, it was a pleasure to work with you.

Wow, that illustration is really old. If I remember correctly I just drew the lines on paper with ink and pencil, then scanned it and colored it in Photoshop. You get the watercolor effect by putting textured layers over the colors.
Hope that helps,

how did you make it look like water colour yet really even and smooth at the same time? I'm so curious, I love this.
